Successful Diaper Drive

The Helping Services Family Education Team is excited that over the course of April, an estimated 5,145 diapers and 1,762 wipes were donated. In addition, we received $775 in financial donations. Thank you to all who generously donated diapers and money to support healthy families in Northeast Iowa. Many thanks also go out to our community partners who volunteered to be donation sites: Fareway Decorah, Monona Public Library, Waukon Public Library, Veterans Memorial Hospital-Waukon, and Kessel Kids-Cresco.

Donations of diapers and wipes directly benefit families who are enrolled in home visiting services. Family Education services are available to anyone who is pregnant and/or has children age 0-3 years old living in Allamakee, Clayton, Howard, and Winneshiek counties. Parents and caregivers receive twice monthly home visits using the Parents as Teachers curriculum, designed to empower families to play an active role in their child’s developmental learning. Families also receive in-home weight checks, vision and hearing screenings, connections to community resources, and help with car seat questions by a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. For more information about home visiting services or if you would like to donate diapers please email: info@helpingservices.org or call (563) 387-1720 to be connected with a Family Educator in your county.

We are extremely grateful for the overwhelming community response we have received throughout the month of April and look forward to continuing to support the needs of families in the communities we serve.
