New Youth Mentoring AmeriCorps Joins the Team
Hi, my name is Colinne McCann. I am an Iowa Department of Public Health Youth Mentoring AmeriCorps Member, and, for the next six months, I will be serving with Helping Services for Northeast Iowa. I will be working firsthand with the youth mentoring program. My time of service will involve building capacity, recruiting mentors, creating a sustainability plan, and working with substance abuse prevention.
In the spring of 2015, I completed an internship for my BA in social work with Helping Services’ mentoring program. I am thrilled to be coming back to the Helping Services family! I have a nine-year-old daughter, and we are very excited to be starting this new journey with IDPH, AmeriCorps, and Helping Services for Northeast Iowa.

AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that engages more than 5 million Americans in service through its AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Social Innovation Fund, and Volunteer Generation Fund programs, and leads the President’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
