Backup Donation: Fayette American Legion Post 339
The Fayette American Legion Post 339 made their annual donation of backpacks to Helping Services for Youth & Helping Services.
Commander Bradley Minger shared with us his dedication to the backpack program since it’s inception. First, a program of the Lion’s Club, the Fayette American Legion Post 339 would later assume the project.
It all started with being at the right place at the right time. Minger happened to hear the comments from a store owner in West Union, Iowa that he had a surplus of backpacks that had to go. Commander Minger knew exactly what to do with them.
He soon rallied his Lion’s Club team members to fill the backpacks with school supplies for local children in need. Currently, Commander Minger delivers the backpacks to several schools in Fayette County and the Fayette Food Shelf.
Minger continues his dedication for 45+ years to the backpack program, now under Fayette American Legion Post 339.
Thank you, Commander Winger!
