Domestic Violence Services Advocacy
Helping Services’ Domestic Abuse Resource Center team members attended Virtual Advocacy Day for the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and Iowa Coalition for Collective Change. This day entailed advice for advocating with legislators, as well as information on the need for state funding for victim services.
Investing in state funds for victim services is important for Helping Services and contributing to the success of our Domestic Abuse Resource Center. Team members have advocated with legislators about this topic and you can too! Find your legislators and their contact information here: Iowa Legislature – Find Your Legislator. All you have to do is send a simple email or make a quick phone call that asks your legislators to support state funds for victim services.
Advocating is important and anyone can do it! You can advocate for issues that you care about and it can have a huge impact on the individuals we serve!
If you, a friend, or a loved one are experiencing domestic abuse, please give one of our advocates a call on the 24/7 Resource Line at 800-383-2988 or chat online at www.HelpingServices.org. All of our services are free and confidential!
