The End of the Year 2016–A Moment of Reflection

By Carson Eggland, Executive Director

I’m not sure about you, but for me, the end of the year always delivers a mix of appreciation for the year ending and anticipation for what’s ahead. The turn of the calendar also provides an even deeper appreciation for all who connect with Helping Services for Youth & Families’ mission.

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to see countless displays of generosity from community members on behalf of Helping Services. I’ve also seen how those moments of selflessness positively impact our work in the community. It’s the hours that volunteers spend in the cold and snow helping to set up Holiday Lights. It’s the donation a local church sends following a successful fundraiser. It’s the teamwork needed across multiple agencies to ensure a positive outcome for a client. But more than anything, it’s the confidence that the community has in our team to provide important, life-altering programs and services throughout Northeast Iowa.

I am honored to serve as the director of Helping Services for Youth & Families, and I look forward to the continued work ahead. We know there are more youth and families who seek a helping hand or an advocate’s caring set of ears. Thank you for your commitment to the mission, and for placing your confidence in our team. Whether it’s through your financial support, volunteer hours, or by passing on our contact information to a friend or colleague who might choose to use our services, you are making a significant impact and difference.

Wishing you a Happy New Year from Helping Services – see you next year!
