Resources to Quit Tobacco
Due to the wide array of flavored e-liquids, sleek/discrete-looking designs, and youth-oriented advertising vaping has become a concern among our youth population. Over 99% of these products that are on the market contain nicotine. A majority of the ones most popular among youth, such as JUUL’s, often contain 2 or more times the amount of nicotine found in a traditional pack of cigarettes.
Quitting any nicotine/tobacco product can be very difficult regardless of age. Many different factors play a role in an individual’s success in quitting. However, there are resources to either support ourselves or others we love including youth. Free and confidential help is available through Quitline Iowa (18+) and My Life My Quit (13-17). These programs have quit coaches that provide personalized help in quitting. For more information visit www.mylifemyquit.com (Text “Start My Quit” to 36072) or iowa.quitlogix.org/ (1-800-QUIT-NOW).
