Meet Eva, New Family Educator
Hi! My name is Eva and I was recently hired as a Family Educator with Helping Services.
I live in Decorah with my husband and four active and inquisitive children ranging from 7 to 17 years old. I have a degree in journalism and a master’s in public health, both from The University of Iowa, so yes – I’m a Hawkeye! I grew up in rural Monona, Iowa, on a honey farm, with my dad being a beekeeper and my mom, a nurse turned healthcare worker advocate. My dad, brother, uncle, and cousin all are beekeepers!
My career path has taken me from radio broadcasting, public health research, reproductive health education, and the last 15 years to a Wisconsin-based, non-profit perinatal care association. I’ve been working remotely for the last 9 of those 15 years and am excited to now be doing direct service with young families in my local community. I have a passion for advocating for the most vulnerable among us, and ensuring that everyone gets the best possible start in life.
When I’m not working, I love being out in nature — hiking, fishing, and canoeing. I also have a life-long love of music and the arts, participating in community choir, theater, playing in a band, and serving on the Decorah Performing Arts Boosters Board.
Helping Services is excited to have Eva share her skills with young families in northeast Iowa. Click here to learn more about our Family Support & Education services, and the important work that Family Educators do serving families with children age birth to 3 years old.
