You work hard to give your children love, stability, and security. But, parenting is one of life’s greatest challenges. That’s why we offer great parent education programs; to give parents the opportunity to learn strategies to manage your stress and to enhance your child’s development.
The Class Topic
This spring we are offering a free three-session parenting class covering Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS). Local school districts are starting to use PBIS to reduce unwanted behavior and increase desired behavior in students. Through praise, redirection, and peer support, teachers help students focus, listen attentively, transition through activities, and more to make the classroom setting more productive. PBIS Parent Modules teach parents and caretakers the same language and tools for the home setting.
The Next Class
Starting April 2nd, we will host PBIS Parent Modules at the Waukon Wellness Center. We’ll meet together from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday nights for three weeks (April 2, 9, and 16). The class will be facilitated by my coworker, Jazmon, Child Abuse Prevention Coordinator. Free childcare will be provided by our local AmeriCorps member and area volunteers.
Pre-registration is required so we can prepare for the number of children needing daycare. Class size and daycare capacity is limited, so early registration is encouraged. For more information or to register for the class, please contact me, Katie Becker, at 563-380-4375 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
