The lessons teach parents the same intervention tools used by teachers in their kid’s classroom for greater consistency and greater results. [/accordian_item] [accordian_item accordion_active=”no” accordion_title=”What do these workshops teach?” icon=”Choose Icon”] Positive Solutions for Families helps improve child behavior by encouraging parents to:
- Be attentive. | Stop your child immediately when bad behavior appears. Show him or her what to do and provide an opportunity to do it correctly. Discipline should be appropriate and consistent.
- Be patient. | Show your child that you care through your commitment and encouragement.
- Be positive. | Praise goes a long way with children, especially with those who struggle. Provide positive feedback.
(above quoted from http://zablocki.schoolfusion.us) [/accordian_item][accordian_item accordion_active=”no” accordion_title=”Why is this workshop important?” icon=”Choose Icon”] The Positive Solutions for Families uses the PBIS approach: Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The PBIS model is also used in area schools. By offering this type of behavior intervention in the home and classroom, parents, teachers, and community members can work together to reinforce strategies for positive child behavior.
School-wide PBIS and PBIS Parent Modules address targeted behaviors in order to “improve lifestyle results (personal, health, social, family, work, recreation) for all youth by making targeted misbehavior less effective, efficient, and relevant, and desired behavior more functional” (San Jose Unified School District, 2015).
