DESCRIPTION:Young adults (ages 15-20) are particularly vulnerable to beginning a cycle of unhealthy alcohol misuse. This virtual training has been prepared by Luther College nursing students. Key points to be shared are: local\, state\, and national statistics\, the physiological impact on young people\, ways to prevent misuse\, how to help a friend\, and resources. This training will be of special interest to mentors\, parents/guardians\, college students\, health professionals\, youth leaders\, family counselors\, high school counselors\, and young adults. Allamakee Prevention Advisory\, formed in late 2021\, and has a mission to “advocate\, educate\, and provide awareness to positively impact the health and wellness of Allamakee County.”  The group provides valuable feedback on the county culture\, trends\, and concerns while making recommendations on evidence-based practices and strategies to implement across the community.
