SUMMARY:Allamakee Proclamation Signing for National Mentoring Month
DESCRIPTION:January is National Mentoring Month. The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors will sign a proclamation making it so. At the proclamation signing\, attendees usually share their name and how they are associated with mentoring. Kathy or Colinne share some statistics and stories about mentoring with the County Board of Supervisors. The proclamation is signed by everyone present and the board makes it officially National Mentoring Month in the county. A picture is taken to share with the media. We often get potential mentors that inquire about mentoring after the picture is shared. Everyone is welcome to attend especially mentors\, mentees\, Steering Committee members\, and supports of mentoring.\n\nProclamation information:\n1/9/23-9:30 a.m. at the Allamakee County Courthouse in Waukon (in the supervisor’s meeting room\, basement level)

SUMMARY:Prevention 5 Coalition Meeting
DESCRIPTION:“Prevention 5 is a group of highly engaged citizens who strive to raise awareness on substance misuse\, teen pregnancy\, mental health\, and overall wellness of the community.” \nThe Coalition typically meets once a month for an hour. Anyone who lives or works in Howard County is welcome to join us at a meeting and have a voice on ways to work towards achieving our Vision\, which is that: “Howard County will be educated and have the knowledge to access resources to create a healthier and safer community for generations to come.”
