Over 80 community members recently volunteered for the Holiday Lights setup day. Teams joined together to raise up their favorite displays in a morning of fun, hot chocolate, and teamwork. In a few short weeks, Pulpit Rock Campground in Decorah will be transformed into a winter wonderland when Holiday Lights opens Thanksgiving night at 5:30 p.m.
You can share in the 10th anniversary celebration of Holiday Lights by co-sponsoring the Tunnel of Lights display. This display commemorates loved ones who celebrated healthy communities and families. Honor your loved one by giving a suggested donation of $50 per person. All of the honorees’ names will be included in the event program. Call 387-1720 before Nov. 24.
Don’t forget the Holiday 5K beginning at 9:30 am, Saturday, Nov. 29. Get in the holiday spirit by donning your holiday-themed costume and take a healthy walk or jog with santas, elves, holiday-lovers, and hard-core runners (registration at 8:30 a.m. or register online for cheaper registration fees).
Finally, you can support Helping Services’ mission and spend some quality time with your family by driving through the 10th annual Holiday Lights display. Holiday Lights is an important fundraiser that keeps needed programs available to local families. As you drive up and are welcomed at the gate, you can give a donation that benefits the people who use Helping Services for Northeast Iowa’s programs: domestic and child abuse advocacy, family support, substance abuse prevention, and youth mentoring.
