Local display increases awareness of child abuse prevention

April is Child Abuse Prevention month.  This year Helping Services of Northeast Iowa is using some eye-catching displays to raise awareness of the issue.

Helping Services’ Karsten Snitker says the pinwheel displays at the Winneshiek County Courthouse, the Helping Services offices, and at Mabe’s and the Whippy Dip are meant to be a more subtle approach to the issue.

Snitker says there is a website, www.pcaiowa.org, with information about child abuse statistics for Iowa.
