Helping Services for Northeast Iowa has a unique opportunity for a person who wants to be of positive service to the people of northeast Iowa, gain experience working with children and families, and also be eligible to pay back student loans or pay tuition. The opportunity is through AmeriCorps. This full time position is perfect for a recent graduate or for a person who wants to broaden their experiences, strengthen their skills, or begin a new career by trying something different. Service to the communities will help make northeast Iowa a healthier and safer place to live. The successful applicant will increase their skills or learn new ones in planning, presenting, coordinating, and writing. AmeriCorps offers amazing benefits such as almost $5,000 per year of service toward a qualifying school loan or tuition, helps with child care payments, and even offers a food allowance for some qualified members. Community Prevention Specialist and Consultant
Half time position with Helping Services for Northeast Iowa. We are seeking a positive, engaging and diplomatic individual to support communities and institutions throughout northeast Iowa as they promote individual, family, and community health around issues of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse. Applicant must be able to work successfully alone and in teams, have demonstrated success in organizing and coordinating youth and adults for short and long term projects, and be results focused. Skills required: public speaking, writing, data collection and reporting, group facilitation and planning. Some evening hours. Helping Services provides a positive, supportive, and creative work environment. Office location: Decorah. Minimum education: BA/BS. Work starts August 2009.. Must have own transportation.
