A Trip to the Movies; A Mentoring Story
“Carol pulled up to [her mentee]’s home to pick him up for a night at the movies. As she walked up the sidewalk, his mother met her at the door with a smile a mile wide and a soft chuckle in her voice.
His mother told the mentor he would be just a couple more minutes; he was still getting ready to go to the movie. A couple of minutes passed, and soon a young boy appeared. He was wearing a cologne that filled the air in the room, his best dark denim jeans, and a nice button down white shirt. His hair was all slicked back with hair gel, and he greeted his mentor by saying, ‘Well, I am ready for our night at the movies, Carol.’ Everyone laughed and smiled as they walked to the front door.”
