The Service Learning projects W.I.S.H. has been involved in this year are as follows:

WISH IT FORWARD- Do three acts of kindness for someone in the World, in our school, in our city and in our homes, then WISH IT FORWARD.

Made and donated over 50 fleece blankets and same amount of toys to the Dubuque Humane Society.  Wrote a disaster plan for pets and distributed this to the students at Washington and promoted Zootoo.com to try to win the makeover for the Humane Society.

Collected over 1000 lbs of food for the Dubuque Food Pantry.

Held a Valentine Bingo Party at Manor Care for the residents.  Making valentines, treats, and collecting prizes to give away.

Held a Read and Feed at the Family Multicultural Center where students did read with the students, did craft projects, worked on homework with the students as well as provided treats.  They also collected and donated books, puzzles and games to the center.

Coordinated with Hempstead World History Class, Ms. Foust, to send school supplies to IRAQI children thru a soldier Ms. Foust’s class was corresponding with.

Collected pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.

On Earth Day cleaned up the school grounds.

Finished and Maintained the Rain Garden and held a Dedication Ceremony and invited  the businesses who have donated to this project:  Apex Concrete, Bard Concrete, Brannon Monument (beautiful stone-with businesses engraved), City of Dubuque, DMASWA, Drew Cook Excavating, Dubuque Hardwoods, Durrant Group, Garden Organic, Great Plains Landscaping, Helping Services for NE Iowa, Molo Companies, Skyline Construction, Steve’s Ace Home and Garden, and the Washington PTO.
