Become a Mentor For a Day
Become a Mentor For A Day Application
Be a mentor to a youth on our waiting list at one or more of the mentoring events offered by Mentoring Programs. If you want to be involved in mentoring, but cannot commit to being a full time mentor, this is a great option. These events are usually held on Saturdays and last about 2-3 hours. If you are interested in mentoring and want to get an idea of what it is like to be a mentor, this is a great opportunity.
Ask Others to Get Involved
Most people involved in mentoring became involved simply because someone talked to them about it. Spread the word about how mentoring helps youth succeed and how there is a great need in our area for mentors. Contact us if you would like materials with information to give to people you know.
Join a Steering Committee
Mentoring Programs at Helping Services encompasses three programs: MY Club (Howard County), Building Bridges Through Mentoring (Winneshiek County), and Allamakeee Mentoring Program (Allamakee County). Each of these programs has a group of community members that help make decisions about the program and help plan events and trainings. These meetings generally last one hour. The input of these steering committees is vital to the success of each program. You can help by joining a committee. Contact a mentoring coordinator for upcoming meetings.
Donate Financially
Mentoring Programs offers a great service to our youth and would like to continue doing so, but it does cost money to run these programs. You can get involved by donating financially or specifically sponsoring an event or project. We would not be able to serve our youth without our generous donors and funders.
