"I helped a client who is from Guatemala undocumented and only speaks Spanish.  She has three small children and all of them were born in Guatemala. Her husband was extremely abusive to her and their children. She was referred to me by Postville DASART and we helped her with the Homeless Funds so she was able to find an apartment for her and her children and leave her abuser.

Also I worked with her on filing  Uvisa (the type of visa for victims of violence). As a result she and her children got social security’s and she got a work permit.  Now she is working and supporting her children and recently they became permanent residents and are now looking forward to their trip back home to see their family in Guatemala!!!!!!!

When I asked her if I could share her story she wanted me to say that she was very thankful for our program and it did change her life and her children’s lives. They are now happy and free of abuse, documented and can work and travel back home."
