Teens pressure their friends to drink? |
One word is all it takes when friends pressure you to take alcohol, pills, pot, and more. |
Why follow the guidelines? Lots of reasons! Here’s just a few:
- The teenage brain is still developing until the mid 20’s, not a good idea to add drugs (alcohol other any other drugs for that matter) to a brain that is still growing!
- We know that anyone who starts drinking before age 15 is way more likely to end up having alcohol problems later in life (having to deal with being an alcoholic or being in recovery for like the rest of your life!).
- Once you start drinking, you might stop making good choices. Did you know that more sexual assaults, STDs and unintended pregnancies happen if there is alcohol involved? Want to avoid the stork? Pass on the drink and keep your head together.
- Are you an athlete? Did you know that every time you get drunk you loose up to 14 days of training? It can also reduce your performance by up to 30%. If the guys on the other team played it sober (and we know that the majority of teens actually do), I would hate to be at 1/3 of my performance!
- Want to have to explain that charge on your record every time you apply for a job? How embarrassing!
